investment and a magpie mind

at a recent party i was speaking with a bride to be, she was giving a full description of her dress and all that glitters. when i inquired as to what the groom would be wearing a glazed bored look spread across her face " i don't know, i'll look in his wardrobe to see what his got..... maybe we'll hire". first of all, hire...come on! second, it dawned on me that the bride, (who has every right to go a little nuts in the lead up to "her day") has the only garment in the bridal party that would be worn once, it may be worn years from now by an ancestor....as a fellow bride or a halloween costume, but really the dress is a one trick pony, even a bridesmaid dress has the potential to see the light of day again. the groom however is investing in something that will be warn on multiple occasions. fundamentally a jacket and pants can we warn to most things, split or together, even a tux comes in handy hanging in your wardrobe, jeans, t and a tux blazer, easy.

invest!

Can we do it, yes we can!

93 looks, 4 models, 8 hours! Yes, a photo shoot from hell, well actually more like a fashion show marathon. We all got there in the end, no tears, but very tiered feet. Lookbooks done...

a scrapped shot, you can clearly see why.....

TO CATCH A THIEF.

Always impeccable.

TIE ME UP, TIE ME DOWN.

Another skill every man must have!
Ok, so the racing season is almost upon us and a lot of you will be wanting to wear a bow tie.
We have so many guys come into the store who are incredibly unsure, almost scared, about tying a bow tie. When I show them, they are always so surprised at how easy it is.
I say, if you can tie your shoelaces or a regular tie then you can do this.
And come on guys, you wouldn't be seen dead in a clip-on tie so why would you wear a clip-on bow? If you are going to wear a bow tie, please, do it properly.

Check out this link, or pop into our shop and we'll give you a personal lesson.

LE NOEUD PAPILLON.

Looking for something a bit different to wear to the races, we think this is just the ticket.

From our favorite bow tie label LE NOEUD PAPILLON comes their new Spring Summer collection, in-store at Leopold now.
All bows are handmade, Como Silk or Italian Velvet and Limited Edition prints.

THE FASHION FUND CLOTHES DRIVE -WE DON’T CARE NOT FOR PROFIT

Leopold is proud to be involved in the Fashion Fund Clothes Drive, an event that helps raise funds and awareness of the issue of homelessness.
The funds go to three great charities:
Swags for Homeless  (providing shelter for homeless),
Credo Café ( a venue that feeds 60 people a day some of who face serious mental health issues, substance abuse, are homeless or unemployed) and
Kids Under Cover (providing housing for homeless and run scholarship programs so they can attend tertiary education).
Come down to Fed Square on Saturday 24th September where the Fashion Fund will take over the main stage area and have a large pop-up store where you can buy designer fashion from labels such as Leopold, Claude Maus, Marc Jacobs, Hugo Boss, Hermes and many more. Great clothes, great cause!

NEW LEOPOLD STORE @ MANCHESTER LANE

As you may or may not have heard, we have relocated. After 5 years on the City Square, Leopold has joined the ranks of Claude Maus, Design A Space and Plane and we can now be found in Manchester Lane. We LOVE our new home. It’s such an iconic Melbourne laneway full of amazing boutiques. If you’ve never checked out Manchester Lane, get your butt down here now. You won’t be disappointed.

LEOPOLD HEARTS BROADSHEET

We had a lovely chat the other day with Broadsheet's Charlotta Lomas and she had an even better time playing dress ups in Leopold.

Have no idea where this came from but we love it.

So Leopold!

WHITEHOUSE SCHOOL OF FASHION

Today we were guest speakers at Whitehouse, speaking to the Second Year Styling students of celebrity stylist Philip Boon. Was great meeting everyone and to talk about Leopold, our history, how we got into this crazy business of fashion, the importance of styling, the good and bad of styling (and stylists!), and how a stylist can sometimes make or break a label. The students had some great questions. Keep up the good work guys!

MELBOURNE SPRING FASHION WEEK 2011

Well, what a week it was. From the fab opening party, parades, events (and maybe a little bit of drinking in between), through to the Leopold show on Thursday night.

Let’s start by saying a huge thank you to all involved in MSFW and making it such a great week for us and if you don’t us saying, a rockin’ show!
Also big thanks to:
City of Melbourne for all their hard work (everything looked amazing guys!),
Fernando Barraza (dude, was a pleasure working with you and thank you for all your work on our parade),
Dean Cherny for doing such a great job on the music (and looked great wearing Leopold on the night),
Connel Chiang (for his great work with Look.Stop.Shop.),
Steph Marks (you rock!),
Cherie Fraser (who btw looked absolutely stunning at the launch party wearing Leopold),

And all the models in our show who worked so hard on the day (especially Dan, Kate, Sophie, Zascha, Rohan, and James…you all rocked!) and such were a pleasure to work with…

For those of you who missed our show, here are some photos.
